Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference.

~ Robert Frost

Deshik Vansadia

A small town boy .... with big ideas.

Growing up life only gave two options. : Medicine or Engineering. It would be a long uphill walk with many summits of Engineering degrees and dark woods of societal constraints before Deshik would eventually find himself at a meadow with flowers at The Stella Adler Academy of Acting. Journey through this road, the one often not taken, defines him.

At the acting academy, Deshik fell in love with great playwrights and especially Shakespeare. The strong beauty of his language would take him to join the Shakespeare & Company, Massachusetts where he would learn, practice and go deeper into Shakespeare's verse. It was dream come true.

And Yet, the journey felt incomplete....

The full circle

.......Deshik had left a big part of him behind in India. A big part of who he was, his culture and his language. The work would not be complete without reconnecting to his roots.

This would lead him back to India where he founded The Shakespeare Company of India in Mumbai. The company is the only company in India dedicated to practice of Shakespeare's original text.

His work with the company gained him recognition in the west and Deshik started working internationally.

And now the journey feels complete : he brings his depth of culture, humanity and love for life to his productions in the US and brings his training, his craft and his love for language to his productions in India.
